Terms of use

Short version: use the tools freely, check anything important, and do not treat the output as advice.

A free reference tool

FigureDeck is a free reference tool. There is no charge, no account, no subscription and no obligation of any kind, and there is nothing to buy. It performs arithmetic on figures you supply, using published formulas, and shows the working. It is intended for general information and for checking your own understanding of how a figure is derived. It is not intended to be the basis of a financial decision, and it should not be used as one.

No advice, no offer

Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting or other professional advice, and nothing here is a recommendation, an endorsement, an offer or a solicitation to enter into any transaction. This is true of the calculators, of the explanatory text around them and of anything in the questions-and-answers section of a page. The calculators do not know your circumstances — your income, obligations, tax position, risk tolerance or objectives — and they recommend nothing.

No relationship of adviser and client is created by using this site, and no duty of care arises from it. If you need advice about your own situation, consult a licensed professional qualified in your jurisdiction. Nothing here is a substitute for that.

Accuracy

We test every calculator against worked examples before publication, and we correct errors when they are found. We do not warrant or represent that any result is accurate, complete or suitable for your purpose. The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Real-world outcomes depend on terms set by third parties — lenders, issuers, tax authorities and others — which change over time and which prevail over anything shown here in every case.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FigureDeck accepts no liability for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental or consequential — arising from any decision taken, or action taken or not taken, in reliance on a computed figure, on the explanation around it, or on any other content on this site. You use the tools at your own risk, and you are responsible for verifying anything material against the issuing institution's own documentation or with a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.

Content

Text, layout and code on this site belong to FigureDeck. Quoting a short passage with attribution and a link is welcome. Republishing a calculator's output as your own tool is not.
